I don’t know about you, but I love a good fingerless glove. All the cozy of gloves and mittens with none of the pressure of fingers and thumb gussets. And this pattern couldn’t be easier! This free suzette stitch fingerless gloves pattern is sure to get you in that “two hands cupping a warm mug on Instagram” mood!
This beginner friendly pattern produces beautiful, delicate and perfectly fitting results while only using single and double crochet (and some slip stitches).
For this we have to thank the suzette stitch: My favorite crochet stitch of the moment. If you haven’t met Suzette before, be sure to check out this post and this post to get acquainted.
I’m still working on a printable, ad free version of the pattern that will include this ear warmer pattern and additional sizing info. But, for now, feel free to scroll down to check out the free version of the adult small size in this blog post!
There’s also a video tutorial! Yay!
About the Suzette Stitch Fingerless Gloves
The pattern is written in standard US terms for an average small adult/woman’s size wrist warmer. It’s easily adjusted for any size and I created a free little wrist warmer “recipe” card you can check out here.
These wrist warmers make the perfect gift, stocking stuffer, or product for your Etsy shop! Feel free to sell anything you create using this pattern.
Materials
I used about 200yards (180m) of Lionbrand’s Vanna’s Choice yarn and a 5mm crochet hook. You can use any similar worsted weight yarn, or use a different yarn and hook size and change your stitch counts to match the absolute measurements in the pattern. As long as your piece is the same length and width as written in the pattern, it’ll work!
You don’t need a tapestry needle for this pattern. We can do all the seaming with just the hook you have and slip stitches.
Tension and Sizing
The single crochet gauge for this yarn/hook combo will be about 12 sc and 13 rows on a 4″x4″ (10cm x 10cm) swatch. The gauge in the suzette stitch pattern is about 16sts by 13 rows on a 4″x4″ swatch.
The small adult size is about 9″ (23cm) long, reaching from about your knuckles to half way up the forearm. The suggested row count results in a wrist circumference of about 7.5″ (19cm). Change the length of the wrist warmers by changing the starting chain count (even number) and simply work as many rows as you need to fit around the wrist before seaming.
Glossary/Abbreviations

The Suzette Stitch Fingerless Gloves Crochet Pattern
Make two gloves:
Foundation chain: ch 34. When altering the pattern, be sure to chain an even number.
Row 1: RS: Skip the first ch. *Make 1sc and 1dc in the next chain, skip the next ch.* Repeat between ** to the last ch, and make 1sc and 1dc in the last ch.
Row 2: Ch1 (doesn’t count as a st) and turn your work. *Skip the first st, make 1sc and 1dc in the next st.* Repeat between ** to the end of the row.
Repeat row 2 until your piece measures about 7.5″ (19cm) or about a total of 25 rows.
Seaming
Slip stitch seam the foundation chain and final edge together stitch for stitch.
Thumb hole opening
When you reach the last 12 sts (about 3.5″ (9cm) from the edge, slip stitch into 8 sts on the foundation chain edge only. Skip 8sts on the other side and continue, sl st the last 4 sts together. Fasten off
