For this pattern it’s helpful to know how to knit, purl, pick up stitches and do basic decreases.
It uses a little over 640 yards (585m) of a super bulky weight yarn (10% more for each size above small) like Bernat Softee Chunky and 9mm and 10mm circular needles. The majority of the cardigan can be knit on 24″ cords. For smaller sleeve circumferences, you may use a shorter cord, magic loop or DPNs. Picking up the button bands will require a circular cord of 36″ or longer to pick up all the stitches in one go. A couple stitch markers are helpful for the sleeves.
